When asked if Christopher Zoc has any advice for someone beginning their career at The Ziegenfelder Company, he said, “Learn to keep up with the pace and learn to have a lot of patience." Chris started as a packer and bagger at the company’s Wheeling facility roughly two years ago.
The company immediately impressed him when he came in to fill out an application. He got his wish and was hired to help make his family’s favorite ice pop, the Budget Saver Assorted Twin Pops.
“Hired on the spot,” said Chris. “Actually I was shocked, because not alot of places are like that. I was impressed that they hire people from all walks of life. The people are the best part about working here.”
Matt Porter, one of Chris’s supervisors, described Chris as someone who is kind and hard-working. “He shows up and always gives his best effort no matter what is happening,” said Matt.
Chris grew up in Martins Ferry, Ohio and his family still lives in this area. He is closest with his two nephews, ages 8 and 5, and his niece who will turn one in June.
“I brought them in for a tour (of the plant) and they loved it!” said Chris. “The thing I like to see are the smiles because when I bring home a bag or two for my nephews, their faces light up. They’re happy as can be.”
