Meet the Tribe: Felix Sharp
Posted 07/18/17
A unique description accompanied Felix Sharp’s Meet The Tribe nomination.
“Felix Sharp: jack of all trades and master of some major positive force for Team 2!” wrote Matt Porter, Production Supervisor at The Ziegenfelder Company’s Wheeling plant.
This month marked three years that Felix has worked at The Ziegenfelder Company full time. Talk to him for just a few minutes and you can feel his energy take over the room.
“If I don’t know your name, I give you a nickname so I can remember your name,” said Felix. There’s a guy in the freezer who is about 6’6” and I still don’t know his name. I call him ‘Slim.’ I have fun here. I get to harass everybody with all kinds of sarcasm. I don’t discriminate. I mess with everyone.”
Felix started working on the production lines and realized that the gantry area was a better fit for him. From that point forward, he encouraged other new tribe members to come in with the right attitude.
“When you walk through the door, don’t get frustrated and don’t get upset,” said Felix. “We get new people in. They look around and they get overwhelmed. I tell them, ‘Look around. This is just popsicles.’ There’s someone to help you and show you what to do. Then, you figure out what works best for you.”
The right attitude helped Felix reach a drug-free lifestyle and get his life back on track. He moved from Denver to Wheeling thanks to the support of his family living in both areas.
“I’ve been drug-free for 7 years, said Felix. “Every day is a challenge. Every day I wake up and I thank the lord for letting me wake up for one more day. A lot of people don’t want to ask for help. But if you’re struggling, you ask. You got to have the right attitude. It’s a must. Attitude is everything.”
