Meet the Tribe: Wanda Munoz

Employment with The Ziegenfelder Company in October 2014 meant a second chance for Wanda Munoz. She reentered the workforce at the Denver plant after spending 7 years behind bars for a non-violent offense.
“My biggest fear was ‘what am I going to do?’ I was so stressed,” said Wanda. “It was almost like I didn’t want to get out because I didn’t know what I was going to do. But knowing there’s felon-friendly employers makes all the difference.”
Wanda explained that her supervisors focused on what she was doing right now, rather than what she had done in her past. She started working as an entry-level employee packing Budget Saver products into boxes and worked her way up. In January 2015, she joined the Quality Assurance team.
“I love my job!” said Wanda. “Q/A is awesome. I like the behind the scene stuff. I get recognized for my work and that makes me feel good. I like staying busy. Staying busy helps me keep my mind straight.”
Originally from Texas, Wanda moved to Denver in 2001 so that her and her son could be closer to Wanda’s mother. Her son is now 20-years-old and still lives in the Denver area. The pair are very close. Wanda explained that her future career goals include The Ziegenfelder Company.
“Hopefully, I can be at any Ziegenfelder facility on the Mix Crew. Mix Crew is what I do now and I love it!”
